Chapter 40 – Guest
Another elder stared at the centipede and whispered, “Hmph, the Xuan Dao Sect has always been like this, trying to bully my Heng Yue Sect because we don’t have a spirit beast. If we have the chance, we should kill that spirit beast, then we’ll see how they’ll show off.”
The sect head snorted coldly. Suddenly, a purple sword appeared before him. It flew into the sky and transformed into a giant purple dragon. It coiled above the Heng Yue Sect and roared at the centipede.
The thousand-foot-tall centipede suddenly stopped, not daring to continue. Suddenly, a loud laugh came from above the centipede.
“Huang Long, it’s rumored that this purple sword contains the soul of a dragon. It seems the rumors are not false. Friend, I’m here now, and if we win again, the Heng Yue Sect will have to keep their promise and return the 137 treasures stolen from us, as well as give us 200 flying swords as compensation.”
The sect master’s expression remained normal. There was no trace of anger. He said indifferently, “Friend Ouyang, if the Xuan Dao Sect wins this time, the Heng Yue Sect will certainly do as promised. However, if you lose, you will have to restrain your spirit beast control techniques.”
As he spoke, the purple dragon slowly disappeared and transformed back into a purple sword. It returned to Sect Master Huang Long’s hand.
The thousand-foot-tall centipede began to advance again. It circled above the Heng Yue Sect as it slowly descended. All the disciples inside stepped back to make room.
All the elders frowned when they saw their followers retreat.
After the centipede landed, it remained motionless. Dozens of people jumped off its back. Except for three elderly people, everyone else was very young.
The Xuan Dao Sect had both male and female disciples. They seemed to be making fun of the Heng Yue Sect because they knew the Heng Yue Sect didn’t have many purple-clad disciples, so every disciple wore purple. Another thing that surprised the Heng Yue Sect disciples was that every Xuan Dao Sect disciple was attractive. The male disciples were extremely handsome, and the female disciples were all extremely beautiful.
Especially the male and female students in front. The man was extraordinarily handsome and full of masculinity. His long sleeves and hair fluttered in the wind, and the flying sword on his back made him look even more imposing. His appearance completely captivated several female students inside.
The female disciple was dressed in purple, with long, waterfall-like hair, bright red lips, and beautiful eyes that could move anyone’s heart. Even Wang Lin couldn’t stop his heart from beating faster when he saw her. He was greatly shocked as he carefully looked at her and quickly became more cautious.
Seeing all the disciples with memorized expressions on their faces, one of the elders finally couldn’t stand it any longer and shouted, “When did the Xuan Dao Sect start practicing talisman arts? This is too despicable.”
This shout quickly awakened many of the disciples inside. All of them showed shocked expressions.
One of the three elders of the Xuan Dao Sect laughed and said, “This must be Elder Dao Xu. My name is Qin Gu Lei. You should take a closer look. These two disciples of mine don’t practice any talisman arts, but they were born with water spirit roots. I can see that among all the Heng Yue Sect disciples, not a single one has such a pure spirit root. They are all a mixture of the five elements. No wonder you can’t tell the difference.”
All the elders of the Heng Yue Sect became uneasy. After a long time, Sect Master Huang Long’s expression remained unchanged as he changed the topic and said, “My fellow disciples of the Xuan Dao Sect, please rest in our sect first. The competition will begin in three days.”
Elder Ouyang nodded. With a smile, he said, “Very good. Our Xuan Dao Sect has been holding this competition with the Heng Yue Sect for many years, but even if there are some disagreements, there’s no need to ruin our relationship.”
Among the many elders of the Heng Yue Sect, a very old man walked out. His face was full of wrinkles and he looked devoid of energy. He chuckled softly and said to Ouyang, “Good friend Ouyang. It’s been 20 years, do you still remember me?”
Elder Ouyang laughed heartily and said, “I’ve seen through you, old friend Song Dao You. This time, you must give me more of your wine. I didn’t have enough because you were too stingy last time. You only brought one jar!”
Elder Song smiled. “It’s not that I’m being stingy, but once you start drinking wine, it’s too scary. No matter how many jars I bring, it won’t be enough.”
As the two began to chat, the other two Xuan Dao Sect elders found familiar faces and began to chat as if the previous unfriendly words had never been spoken.
As they talked about the things happening in the cultivation world of the country of Zhao, the eyes of the followers of both sects were completely opened.
Things like: The Wu Feng Sect had a male disciple who seduced the female head disciple of the Misty Sect and got her pregnant. The Misty Sect head went to the Wu Feng Sect to get justice, but returned with a baby.
Or like the Heaven Sect, where some of its followers left the sect and joined the He Huan Sect. After some of them began spreading the benefits of joining the He Huan Sect, more and more followers left the Heaven Sect. This angered the head of the Heaven Sect so much that he issued an order to kill any followers who left the sect.
Or about the birth of a genius baby, and finally about the birthday of the Misty Sect’s Core Formation expert which would fall in a few months, so all the friendly sects would send people to attend and so on.
Wang Lin listened for a long time and began to have a very vague impression of the cultivation world in the State of Zhao. At one point, he suddenly felt someone staring at him. He turned his head and saw the female disciple of the Xuan Dao Sect staring at him with a faint smile on her face.
Wang Lin nodded his head and secretly remained vigilant. He didn’t believe he had the charm to attract anyone among all the disciples present.
Liu Mei was the leader of the core disciples in the Xuan Dao Sect and was extremely confident in her innate charm abilities. Within the Xuan Dao Sect, almost no one her age could resist her. However, the ordinary-looking young man was the first to recover, which surprised her. She couldn’t help but take a few more glances, but no matter how she looked at Wang Lin, he was only at the 3rd layer and nothing special.
As the elders spoke, the disciples from both sects also began chatting with each other, preparing for the upcoming competition. All the Xuan Dao Sect disciples seemed to possess a mysterious fog that concealed their cultivation levels.
Wang Lin was also surprised because he was interested in the Xuan Dao Sect. This technique seemed similar to the Disguise Pill, but at a higher level.
The Heng Yue Sect disciples seemed to have all their attention focused on the man and woman, all of them with their own ideas, but Wang Lin noticed a strange phenomenon; all the Xuan Dao Sect disciples, from the look in their eyes, all seemed to show signs of respect for a middle-aged man behind.
After giving the person a meaningful look, Wang Lin withdrew his gaze, lowered his head, and remained silent.
