Chapter 5329: Separate Investigation
He instinctively straightened his clothes, an inexplicable tinge of embarrassment crossing his brow.
Lately, she had been inseparable from David, the deep surge of love now turning into a tingling sensation and a subtle swelling in her waist, a reminder of the tenderness and madness of last night.
David had already noticed something was wrong with her. His fingertips gently brushed the strands of hair on her forehead, his voice soft enough to drip with tears. “After I take care of the Black Wind Mountains, I’ll be right back.”
“Calm down, rest here, and don’t let your imagination wander. I’ll help you heal that blockage when I return.”
Before he finished speaking, two blushes appeared on Ling Xue’s cheeks, even her ears were stained red.
She knew her cultivation was still limited, and following him would only be a burden. She suppressed her reluctance and nodded, her eyes slightly red, her voice choked with sobs: “You… must return safely.”
“Don’t worry.” David smiled and stroked the ends of her hair. As he turned around, the gentleness in his eyes suddenly turned sharp.
Hu Mazi had been waiting outside the courtyard. Seeing David appear, he grinned, “Let’s go! Any longer, and those old ghosts from the Evil Dao Hall might have to wait even longer.”
The two exchanged glances, their spiritual energy suddenly erupting. They unleashed their aerobatics to the fullest, transforming into two streaks of light as they shot into the sky, shooting towards the Black Wind Mountains on the border of Fifth Heaven.
Ling Xue stood in the corridor, watching their retreating figures. She raised her hand to her still-reddened cheek, silently repeating the word “safe” in her mind until the two figures disappeared from the horizon.
The Black Wind Mountains, located in a remote region at the edge of Fifth Heaven, are always shrouded in dark green miasma. Demonic beasts roam the depths, making even highly skilled cultivators fear their journey.
David and Hu Mazi raced at lightning speed, using all their aerobatic skills. The wind whistled in their ears, and the cities and forests below rapidly receded. In just three days, they reached the outskirts of the Black Wind Mountains.
Even before they entered the mountains, the pungent, indescribable smell of blood assaulted them, mixing with the smell of rotting flesh and the smell of vegetation, creating a nauseating aroma.
A faint blackish-grey mist hung in the air, filled with wisps of a cold and sinister aura, characteristic of the Evil Dao Temple cultivators.
Hu Mazi frowned, his hands quickly forming a cleansing gesture. A pale golden talisman emerged from his palm, instantly transforming into a shield of light that enveloped the two of them, sealing off any intruding evil.
“Oh my! This place is even scarier than the last time we were here.” She smacked her lips, a serious look flashing across her eyes. “It seems like You Wuxie has been messing around here quite a bit; I’m worried he might actually be up to something.”
David’s eyes dimmed, and his right hand moved slightly. The Dragon Slayer Sword at his waist, as if sensing something, emitted a clear buzzing sound and automatically unsheathed itself, floating beside him.
A faint golden light shone through the blade, as if a golden dragon were circling within it. “The more this case is revealed, the more their guilt is proven.”
Her voice was flat, yet it carried an undeniable authority. “Mr. Hu, let’s split up and explore. You go to the valley on the left, and I’ll go to the dense forest on the right. We’ll meet here in half an hour.”
“Okay,”
Hu Mazi replied. With a flash of his body, three yellow talismans appeared in his hands. Intricate runes were painted with cinnabar, emitting a faint spiritual light.
He threw the talismans into the air, muttering something. Instantly, they transformed into three streams of yellow light, trailing long fiery tails as they shot into the miasma-filled mountains. David followed closely, his figure quickly disappearing into the thick fog.
David took a deep breath, the dragon power within him flowing slowly. Golden scales spread from his wrists, quickly covering both of his arms. A faint golden halo lingered around him, pushing the surrounding miasma back a meter.
