Chapter 5342: Good Luck
Under the blue sky, two streaks of light pierced the clouds and landed firmly in the dense ancient forest.
David withdrew the golden light around him, his fingertips still tingling from the power of space after crossing the Broken Cloud Ridge, while Hu Mazi couldn’t wait to take a deep breath, his face full of awe.
“Wow, this sixth-grade immortal energy is even gentler than the fifth-grade spiritual spring!”
Hu Mazi smacked his lips, and spiritual power flowed through his body. He felt his meridians become more comfortable. “I’ve been stuck at the ninth level of the Earthly Immortal Realm for a long time. Perhaps if I stay here for a few months, I can reach the threshold of the Human Immortal Realm!”
David didn’t answer, his eyes already sweeping around.
This ancient forest stands in stark contrast to the Black Wind Mountains in the Fifth Heaven. The trees are so dense that it would take more than ten people to embrace each other, their trunks covered in pale golden moss, emitting faint fluctuations of spiritual energy.
Fist-sized crystals dotted the ground, reflecting the sunlight and sparkling.
The roar of a demonic beast from a distance was powerful enough to frighten even a cultivator at the early stage of the Fifth Heaven Earthly Immortal Realm.
“Be careful,”
David said, pressing the Dragon Slayer Sword to his waist. The sword hummed faintly in its sheath, a warning. “The demonic beasts of the Sixth Heaven are not only stronger, but they may also possess strange abilities nourished by immortal energy.”
As he finished speaking, a loud “crack” sound suddenly came from the dense forest on the left, followed by a gust of wind, sending fallen leaves flying in the air.
A massive creature emerged from behind the trees, its entire body covered in dark blue scales. Its head resembled that of a giant crocodile, but with three crimson eyes. A pair of vestigial, fleshy wings sprouted from its back. Saliva dripped from its sharp fangs, instantly eating away at the ground, leaving small craters.
“It’s the Three-Eyed Corrupted Scaled Beast!”
Hu Mazi’s face darkened slightly, and he took out two talismans from his storage bag. “I once saw records in ancient texts from the Fifth Heaven that this beast’s scales can withstand attacks from a seventh-rank Earth Immortal. Its saliva is extremely poisonous, and most troublesome of all, its third eye can spew a foul aura that eats away at the soul!”
The Three-Eyed Scaled Beast clearly mistook the two for prey. Its third eye suddenly glowed red, and a dark green aura shot toward David like a sharp arrow.
David shifted his feet slightly, unleashing the Firebender Steps. His figure disappeared into a blur, avoiding the aura. The aura landed on the ancient tree behind him, instantly blackening and rotting the trunk. Within seconds, the tree was reduced to a pool of black water.
“Very good!”
Hu Mazi laughed and threw the talisman in his hand. “Fire Talisman!” Two rays of fire exploded in the air, transforming into two fire snakes that wrapped around the three-eyed, rot-scaled beast.
The snakes hissed as they touched his scales, but failed to penetrate his defenses, leaving only two scorch marks.
The three-eyed, scaly beast roared in pain, opened its jaws and bit Hu Mazi.
Hu Mazi didn’t dare resist, so he immediately summoned a wind-driving talisman, floating several feet back. At the same time, he threw a binding talisman with his palm. Yellow runes intertwined in the air, forming a wide net that entangled the three-eyed, scaly beast’s limbs.
“David, attack!”
Hu Mazi shouted.
Golden light flashed in David’s eyes, and the dragon power within him flared up fiercely. He unsheathed the Dragon Slayer Sword, releasing golden sword energy filled with blazing fire.
“Dragon Flame Slash!”
The sword energy landed on the three-eyed, rot-scaled beast’s back, instantly shattering its scales. Flames spread, burning its flesh.
“Roar!”
The foul scaly three-eyed beast screamed loudly, struggling to break free from the binding amulet, but Hu Mazi had added a few more amulets, and the runes tightened, binding it tightly.
The golden flames continuously devoured his vitality, and his breath gradually weakened. Finally, he collapsed to the ground, becoming a pile of charred corpses.
David slowly stepped forward, and the fire on the Dragon Slayer Sword slowly died out.
