Chapter 5348: Inquiring for Information
They knew time was running out; if all the evil spirits escaped, the consequences would be dire.
This investigation aims not only to retrieve the Thunder Sound Bell, but also to uncover the mastermind behind the incident and completely thwart the devil’s conspiracy.
After leaving Leiyin Mountain, David and Hu Mazi headed straight for Qingfeng Town.
The token Xiao Cui had given him was still in David’s possession. The Information Tower, which corresponded to the token, was one of the few intelligence bases in Sixth Heaven that dared to reveal the secrets of various factions. For a certain reward, there was almost no information they couldn’t reveal.
They landed in an alley east of Qingfeng City. Hidden deep within the alley was a simple wooden house. A delicate gear pattern was carved on the doorframe, marking the Information Tower.
Hu Mazi was about to push the door open when David stopped him. A wisp of spiritual energy gathered at his fingertips, and he pressed the same pattern on the doorknob as Xiao Cui’s token.
With a creak, the wooden door automatically swung inward. The room was filled with the faint scent of ink. A woman in a tight green dress and a veiled face sat at a desk, sorting through files.
He glanced at the two of them, his gaze stopping on the token in David’s hand, and his tone was flat: “The Information Office only recognizes tokens, not people. What do you two want to investigate? Let me be clear first, if this involves the secrets of the Kingdom of God or the core plans of the Temple, you will have to pay high-grade immortal stones, and the completeness of the information is not guaranteed.”
“We want to investigate the theft of the Leiyin Bell from Leiyin Mountain three days ago.”
David placed the token on the table, “Including all traces of power that appeared near Leiyin Mountain that night, abnormal spiritual power fluctuations, and recent transaction records related to the ‘Demon Soul’ and ‘Seal’.”
The woman took the token and rubbed it for a moment, then took out a crystal ball from the drawer and placed the token on the surface of the ball.
The crystal ball immediately lit up with blue light, revealing a line of small characters: “A token personally given by the owner of the Fifth Heaven Information Tower, with Class A authority, allowing access to intelligence from the eastern part of the Sixth Heaven within three months.”
He put away the crystal ball, turned around, and took out three yellowed volumes from the bookshelf, then placed them in front of the two men: “On the night the Leiyin Bell was stolen, the Information Tower spies on the outskirts of Leiyin Mountain recorded three unusual auras.
The first was the ‘bone-eroding black air’ from the Sixth Hall. The spies discovered traces of black-robed men on the northern slope of the mountain. They appeared to be distracting the patrolling Leiyin Temple disciples.
The second is the Divine Kingdom’s ‘sacred pattern divine power,’ detected in the stream on the south side of the mountain. The remnants of the silver sacred pattern match those on the Divine Guard’s armor; the third type…”
The woman paused, her tone becoming more serious. “That’s the ‘Corrupt Heart Evil Qi’ from the Evil Dao Hall. In the grass near the bell pavilion, we found half a skull-patterned talisman. It’s made of the same material as the one used by the Fifth Heaven branch of the Evil Dao Hall.”
Hu Mazi slammed the table, startling the file holders. “Damn it! Aren’t these three bastards always at odds? The Divine Kingdom hates the Sixth Hall of Magic, and the Divine Kingdom hates the Dao Hall for stealing their alchemy resources. How could they possibly work together to steal the bell?”
David didn’t rush to speak. Instead, he took the half amulet and examined it carefully.
A faint evil aura still lingered on the edge of the amulet, identical to the aura he had encountered in the Fifth Heaven Evil Dao Hall branch. But what was even more strange was that the back of the amulet was carved with a faint divine pattern. The pattern was seven-tenths similar to the golden pattern he had seen on the skirt of the princess of the Divine Kingdom.
“There is something wrong with this amulet.”
David gathered spiritual power at his fingertips and tapped it gently. “The Evil Path Hall amulet has never been engraved with divine patterns, unless… someone deliberately grafted the aura of the God Realm onto the Evil Path Hall amulet, or perhaps these three parties have colluded.”
The woman in the thin gauze heard this and handed over another file. “If you two don’t believe me, take a look at this transaction record.”
Half a month ago, a bronze-masked man posted a task in the News Building, offering a high price to purchase the Leiyin Mountain Seal Rune Structure. The person who accepted the task also had financial dealings with the Sixth Hall of the Divine Temple, the Divine Kingdom’s secret department, and the Evil Path Hall.
However, the person’s identity is hidden, and we have not yet discovered his true identity.”
