Chapter 60 Poison—Part Five

Wen Ning summoned dozens of disciples and protected them directly until they arrived at a beautiful mansion. He sneaked in through the back door and took Wei WuXian to a smaller building.

However, right after Wen Ning turned around and closed the door, before he could stop and rest, Wei WuXian grabbed his neck again and asked in a low voice, “Where is this place?!”

Even though Wen Ning had saved him, he couldn’t let down his guard against the Wen Sect’s people. He was always on guard. As he followed Wen Ning through the large residence, they passed many rooms. Most of the people inside spoke with a Qishan accent. He caught snippets of conversation drifting through the window and heard the words ‘supervision office’!

Wen Ning quickly waved his hands, “No… I…”

Wei WuXian, “What do you mean no? This isn’t the supervisor’s office in Yiling? Which poor sect’s territory did you take over this time? What’s your purpose in bringing us here?”

Wen Ning struggled to protest, “Young Master Wei, listen to me. This is the surveillance office. But… But I really didn’t mean to hurt you. If I wanted to, after I entered Lotus Pier last night, I could have immediately broken my promise. I wouldn’t have had to bring you here.”

Wei WuXian was always on guard. He wasn’t relaxed at all, ready to explode at any moment. His head was spinning. Hearing this, he still couldn’t quite believe it. Wen Ning continued, “This really is the surveillance office. If there’s any place the Wen Sect won’t search, it’s definitely here. You two can stay here. But don’t let anyone find you…”

After a moment’s pause, Wei WuXian finally forced himself to let go. He softly muttered “thank you” and “sorry” before laying Jiang Cheng down on the wooden bed in the room.

But suddenly, the door opened. A woman’s voice called out, “I’m looking for you! Explain yourself properly…”

Just as he said not to let anyone find them, they were found right away!

Wei WuXian broke out in a cold sweat. He immediately stood in front of the bed. Wen Ning was so frightened that he couldn’t say a word.

Frozen, the two stared at the woman standing at the entrance. Or, rather, a girl. Her skin was slightly dark. Although her face was sweet, her expression was full of arrogance. The sun robe she wore glowed red, the flames almost dancing around her sleeves and collar.

His rank is very high, on par with Wen Chao!

The three of them were silent for a few seconds. A series of hurried footsteps sounded from outside. Wei WuXian gathered his courage. Just as he was about to attack, the girl moved before he could and, with a loud bang, slammed the door shut.

A voice asked from outside the door, “Office Leader Wen, what’s wrong?”

The girl said nonchalantly, “It’s okay. My sister is back. She’s just sad again. Don’t wake her up. Let’s go. We can talk while we walk.”

The people outside responded and followed him out. Wen Ning let out a sigh of relief, explaining to Wei WuXian, “My… my older sister.”

Wei WuXian, “Wen Qing is your older sister?”

Wen Ning nodded, somewhat embarrassed, “My little brother. He’s really great.”

He is indeed strong.

Wen Qing was arguably a renowned cultivator of the QishanWen Sect. She wasn’t the daughter of the QishanWen Sect’s leader, Wen RuoHan, but rather the daughter of one of Wen RuoHan’s cousins. Although they were distant cousins, Wen RuoHan had always been close to this cousin. Furthermore, Wen Qing was exceptionally talented in the liberal arts and had also studied medicine. Her talent earned her quite a bit of affection. She often accompanied Wen RuoHan to QishanWen Sect banquets, so Wei WuXian found her face familiar. After all, she was indeed beautiful. He had also heard somewhere that Wen Qing had an older or younger brother. However, perhaps because he wasn’t as talented as Wen Qing, not many people spoke of him.

Wei WuXian exclaimed, “You really are Wen Qing’s younger brother?”

Wen Ning thought that what surprised him was how such a good and famous sister could have such an ordinary brother. He admitted, “Yes. My sister is good. I… I’m not.”

Wei WuXian, “No, no. You’re also very good. What surprised me was that your sister is Wen Qing, the Head of the Office, and you dared to bring us…”

Suddenly, Jiang Cheng shifted in bed. He furrowed his brows slightly. Wei WuXian immediately turned to check on him, “Jiang Cheng?!”

Wen Ning hurried over, “He’s awake. He needs some medicine. I’ll go get it.”

After leaving, he closed the door. After a long period of unconsciousness, Jiang Cheng finally woke up. Wei WuXian was initially overjoyed. However, he soon realized something was wrong.

Jiang Cheng’s expression was a little strange. Calm, almost too calm.

He stared at the ceiling, as if he was completely uninterested in the situation he was in, as if he didn’t care where he was either.

Wei WuXian hadn’t expected his reaction to be like that. Sadness, happiness, anger, surprise—he couldn’t feel any of it. His heart pounded, “Jiang Cheng, can you see me? Can you hear me? Do you know who I am?”

Jiang Cheng glanced at him. He didn’t say anything. Wei WuXian asked a few more questions. Propping himself up with his arms, he finally sat up straight. He stared at the disciplinary whip marks on his chest before laughing bitterly.

If the disciplinary whip struck, it would be impossible to erase the mark of shame. Wei WuXian comforted her, “Stop looking at it. There must be a way to erase it.”

Jiang Cheng slapped him. His blow was so weak, so powerless that Wei WuXian didn’t even flinch. “Hit me. Just as long as it makes you feel better.”

Jiang Cheng, “Do you feel it?”

Wei WuXian paused for a moment, “What? Feeling what?”

Jiang Cheng, “Do you feel my spiritual power?”

Wei WuXian, “What spiritual power? You didn’t use any spiritual power at all.”

Jiang Cheng, “I did.”

Wei WuXian, “What… are you talking about?”

Jiang Cheng repeated, biting out each word, “I said, I did it. When I hit you, I used all my spiritual power. I asked you a question. Did you feel it?”

Wei WuXian stared at him. After a moment of silence, he said, “Hit me one more time?”

Jiang Cheng, “No need. No matter how many times I hit you, the result will be the same. Wei WuXian, do you know why the Core Melting Hand is called the Core Melting Hand?”

His heart had completely sunk.

Jiang Cheng continued on his own, “Because his two hands can melt the golden core, so you will never be able to form a new core again, your spiritual power will disappear, and you will become an ordinary person.

And ordinary people who come from cultivation sects are just like useless people. Your entire life will be spent in worldly affairs. You can no longer dream of rising to the top.

“Mother and Father had their golden core melted by Wen ZhuLiu first and lost the ability to fight before finally being killed by him.”

Wei WuXian’s head was completely confused. He didn’t know what to do, muttering, “… Core Melting Hand… Core Melting Hand…”

Jiang Cheng laughed, “Wen ZhuLiu, Wen ZhuLiu. I want revenge, I want revenge, but how is that possible? My soul core is gone. I will never be able to form a soul core again. How can I possibly take revenge? Hahahahahaha, hahahahahahahahahahaha…”

Wei WuXian collapsed to the ground. Looking at Jiang Cheng, who looked crazed, he was speechless.

No one knew better than himself how ambitious Jiang Cheng was, how much he respected his cultivation and spiritual strength. But now, with the attack of the Core Melting Hand, his cultivation, his pride, and his hope for revenge, had all been shattered to pieces!

Like a madman, Jiang Cheng laughed for a moment. He lay back on the bed and opened his arms, speaking as if he had given up on everything, “Wei WuXian, why did you save me? What’s the point of saving me? Just let me live in this world, watching the Wen dogs run rampant, seeing how I can do nothing?”

At this moment, Wen Ning entered through the door. The smile on his face was almost ingratiating. He walked towards the bed, holding a bowl of medicine. Before he could say anything, his sun robes reflected in Jiang Cheng’s eyes. His pupils suddenly constricted.

Jiang Cheng kicked Wen Ning, knocking him out of the medicine bowl. The black liquid spilled onto Wen Ning. Wei WuXian wanted to take the medicine bowl. He pulled Wen Ning away, who was shocked and speechless. Jiang Cheng yelled at him, “What’s wrong with you?!”

Wen Ning was so frightened that he backed away several times. Jiang Cheng grabbed Wei WuXian by the collar and shouted, “You saw Wen’s dog and didn’t kill it?! And you want to pull it? Do you want to die?!”

Despite his best efforts, his arms were still weak. Wei WuXian struggled to free himself. Jiang Cheng finally noticed him. He looked around and asked anxiously, “Where is this?”

Wen Ning replied from afar, “The supervisor’s office is in Yiling. But it’s very safe…”

Jiang Cheng turned to Wei WuXian, “The Supervisory Office?! You were the one who fell into their trap?”

Wei WuXian, “Tidak!”

Jiang Cheng spoke loudly, “No? Then what were you doing in the supervisor’s office? How did you get here? Don’t tell me you went to Wen-dogs for help?!”

Wei WuXian grabbed him, “Jiang Cheng, calm down. It’s very safe here! Get up. It’s not necessarily that the Core Melting Hand can’t…”

Jiang Cheng couldn’t listen to anyone anymore. He was already half-crazy. His arms wrapped around Wei WuXian’s neck, and he laughed, “Wei WuXian, hahahahahahahaha Wei WuXian! You! You…”

Suddenly, a red shadow kicked open the door and dashed in. With a flick of its palm, a streak of silver light flashed. A needle pierced Jiang Cheng’s head, and he immediately lay back down. Wen Qing turned to close the door before snapping softly, “Wen Ning, how stupid are you? You let him scream, laugh, and make such a loud noise?! Do you want him to be found out?”

As if he saw his savior, he shouted, “Big brother!”

Wen Qing, “Calling me your sister now? I haven’t asked you yet. Since when did you get so bold? How dare you hide people! I already slipped in a few questions earlier. So that’s why you suddenly want to go to Yunmeng! How arrogant are you? Who gave you so much courage? If Wen Chao finds out about this, won’t he tear you apart? If he’s really determined to kill someone, do you think I can stop him?”

He spoke quickly and clearly. His firm tone brooked no objections. Wei WuXian couldn’t find a way to interrupt. Wen Ning’s face was as pale as snow. “Big Brother, but Young Master Wei…”

Wen Qing continued sternly, “I won’t say much because you did it out of gratitude, and that’s an understandable reason. However, those two shouldn’t stay here for long! You came suddenly and left just as suddenly, while Wen Chao lost them both. Do you think Wen Chao is that stupid? Their search will end here sooner or later. This is the surveillance office under my command, and this is your home. What charges do you think they’ll face if they find out you’re hiding them? Think carefully!”

He explained very clearly what was at stake for them, so clearly that it was as if he was pointing a finger at Wei WuXian and telling him to leave immediately and not stay here and burden them. If Wei WuXian were the one injured or if someone else had rescued them, he would have immediately said goodbye and left with determination. However, right now, Jiang Cheng was the one injured. Not only was he injured, but he was also losing his mind. He was in a state of insanity. Regardless, Wei WuXian couldn’t find the willpower. And it was the Wen Sect that had put them in this situation in the first place. It was natural for him to feel reluctant to give up. He could only grit his teeth and remain silent.

Wen Ning, “B-But the Wen Sect people…”

Wen Qing interrupted him, “What the Wen Sect did doesn’t reflect what we do. We don’t need to be held responsible for the Wen Sect’s mistakes. Wei Ying, don’t look at me like that. Every debt has a beginning. I’m the leader of the Yiling Office, but I was ordered to take that position. I’m a doctor and a pharmacist; I’ve never killed anyone, let alone touched the Jiang Sect’s blood.”

It was true. No one had ever heard of a life lost at Wen Qing’s hands. There were always plenty of cases she wanted to handle. That was because Wen Qing was a member of the Wen Sect, whose methods were generally quite ordinary. Sometimes she would even say a few sweet words to Wen RuoHan. Her reputation had always been good.

Everyone was silent in the room.

A moment later, Wen Qing spoke again, “Don’t remove the needle. That brat will throw a tantrum when he wakes up. His screams can be heard even from outside. Just remove it after the wound heals. I really don’t want anything to do with Wen Chao, especially the woman beside him. She disgusts me!”

He left the door as soon as he was done. Wei WuXian said, “He… meant that we can’t stay long, but we can still stay a few days… right?”

Wen Ning nodded, “Thank you, Big Brother!”

A packet of medicinal herbs was thrown from outside the door. Wen Qing said from a distance, “If you’re truly grateful, then try your best! What kind of medicine did you just make? Brew it again!”

Even though the herbal packet had hit Wen Ning, he said happily, “The medicine my sister made will definitely work. It’s a hundred times better than mine. It will definitely work.”

Wei WuXian finally felt relieved, “Thank you.”

She understood that if one of the siblings decided to turn a blind eye to them and the other decided to directly help them, they would be putting themselves in great danger. As Wen Qing had said, if Wen Chao truly wanted to kill someone, Wen Qing would be impossible to stop him. Perhaps she would be affected as well. After all, another person’s child could never compare to her own.

With the needle in Jiang Cheng’s head, he slept for three days. His bones and external wounds had healed. All that remained, and could not be healed, were the scars from the discipline whip and the golden core, which he would never be able to retrieve.

Wei WuXian had also been thinking for three days.

Three days later, Wei WuXian bid Wen Ning farewell. Carrying Jiang Cheng, he went for a short walk and borrowed a small house from a forest ranger.

She closed the door and removed the needle from Jiang Cheng’s head. He only opened his eyes after a long time had passed.

He was awake, but he didn’t move at all. He was so indifferent that he didn’t even look up or ask ‘where is this’. He didn’t drink water, he didn’t eat anything. It seemed like all he was looking for was death.

Wei WuXian, “Do you really want to die?”

Jiang Cheng, “I can’t take revenge even if I’m alive. Why can’t I just die? Maybe I can turn into a vicious ghost.”

Wei WuXian, “You’ve undergone a soul-pacifying ceremony since you were young. You won’t be able to turn into a ferocious ghost even after you die.”

Jiang Cheng, “If I can’t take revenge, whether I live or die, then what difference does it make?”

After he said that, he didn’t want to talk anymore no matter what happened.

Wei WuXian sat by the bed. He stared at her for a moment. Patting his knee, he stood up and began to busy himself.

When night came, he finally finished cooking. He put everything on the table, “Get up. It’s time for dinner.”

Of course, Jiang Cheng ignored him. Wei WuXian sat down at the table. He picked up his own chopsticks, “If you don’t replenish your strength, how are we supposed to retrieve your golden core?”

Hearing the word ‘gold core’, Jiang Cheng finally blinked. Wei WuXian continued, “That’s right. Don’t hesitate. You didn’t hear wrong. What I said was ‘take back your gold core’.”

Jiang Cheng moved his lips. His throat was dry, “… Do you know how?”

Wei WuXian spoke in a calm voice, “I am willing.”

He turned around, “You have known for a long time that my mother, ZangSe SanRen, is a disciple of BaoShan SanRen, right?”

The sentence was only a few words, but it immediately lit up Jiang Cheng’s lifeless eyes.

BaoShan SanRen, a legendary god who has lived for hundreds of years, a reclusive master who is said to be able to bring the dead back to life, giving flesh to bones!

Her voice trembled, “You mean… You mean…”

Wei WuXian spoke clearly, “I mean, I know which mountain is being embraced in the name of ‘BaoShan’. That means I can take you to BaoShan SanRen.”

Jiang Cheng, “… But, but can’t you remember things from your youth?!”

Wei WuXian, “It’s not that I don’t remember anything. There are some fragmented, repeated parts that I haven’t forgotten. I always remember a woman’s voice repeating things to me, telling me locations and many other things. The voice said that if I was truly desperate, I could go up the mountain and ask the gods for help.”

Jiang Cheng rolled out of bed.

He plopped down on the table. Wei WuXian pushed the bowl and chopsticks in front of him, “Eat.”

Holding onto the table, Jiang Cheng was very happy, “I…”

Wei WuXian, “Eat. We can chat while we eat. Otherwise, I won’t say anything.”

Jiang Cheng could only force himself to sit on the bench. Chopsticks in hand, he shoveled food into his mouth. He felt utterly hopeless, but suddenly he realized that things could still turn around, and the world seemed beautiful behind him. He was so excited that it felt as if a fire was burning around him. Uneasy, he didn’t even realize he was holding his chopsticks from the wrong end. Seeing Jiang Cheng finally start eating, albeit distractedly, Wei WuXian continued, “I’ll take you there in a few days.”

Jiang Cheng, “Today!”

Wei WuXian, “What are you afraid of? The Immortals are over a hundred years old, can they disappear in just a few days? A few more days, because there are many taboos here. I have to tell them about you carefully. Otherwise, if you do something forbidden, it will be all over if you anger Master. We’ll both be finished.”

Jiang Cheng stared at him, his eyes wide, expecting him to tell him more. Wei WuXian continued, “When you climb a mountain, you can’t open your eyes and look around, you can’t remember the scenery on the mountain, you can’t see the people there. Remember, whatever they tell you to do, you must do it.”

Jiang Cheng, “Oke!”

Wei WuXian, “And, this is the most important point. If asked who you are, you must say that you are ZangSe SanRen’s son. You must not reveal your true identity!”

Jiang Cheng, “Oke!”

Most likely, whatever Wei WuXian asked, Jiang Cheng would agree with tears in his eyes. Wei WuXian concluded, “Alright, let’s eat. Recharge and boost our energy. I have to prepare for the next few days.”

Jiang Cheng finally realized he was holding his chopsticks incorrectly. He flipped them over and took a few more bites. The spiciness was so intense that his eyes turned red. He couldn’t help but curse, “…It tastes terrible!”

After days of persistent questioning about the details of BaoShan SanRen, Wei WuXian set off with Jiang Cheng. After a long journey, they arrived at the foot of one of the remote mountains in Yiling.

The mountain seemed alive with green trees. Its peak was surrounded by clouds and mist. It did have a heavenly feel to it. However, it was still quite a distance from the heavenly mountain everyone thought it was. Over the past few days, Jiang Cheng had been constantly suspicious. Sometimes he suspected Wei WuXian was lying to him, and other times he suspected Wei WuXian had misheard or misremembered things. He had been constantly worried about whether they would find him since childhood. When he saw the mountain, his suspicions grew again, “Is this really where BaoShan SanRen lives?”

Wei WuXian sounded certain, “It’s definitely here. What’s the point of me lying to you? Just so you can be happy for a few days and then suffer even greater disappointment?”

Similar conversations had occurred between the two of them countless times. Wei WuXian walked halfway up the mountain with her, “Alright. Now, I won’t be able to climb any higher with you.”

He took a piece of cloth and covered Jiang Cheng’s eyes with it. He said repeatedly, “Don’t ever open your eyes. There are no wild beasts on this mountain. I’d rather you walk slower. Even if you fall, you can’t pull the cloth off. You shouldn’t be curious. Remember, just say you’re Wei WuXian. Do you know how to answer questions?”

The crucial question was whether he could reform his core and exact revenge. Of course, Jiang Cheng didn’t dare act rashly. He nodded nervously.

He turned around and slowly began to climb the mountain. Wei WuXian, “I’ll wait for you in the town back there!”

After he watched Jiang Cheng’s slowly moving silhouette for a while, he turned around and walked down another mountain path.

Jiang Cheng had been on the mountain for seven days.

The town where they had agreed to meet was nestled in the mountains. It was quite remote. There weren’t many people there. The streets were thin and bumpy. There weren’t even any street vendors on the side of the road.

Wei WuXian crouched by the roadside. He glanced toward the mountain. Jiang Cheng was still nowhere to be seen. With his hands on his knees, he stood up before feeling his head spin. Staggering for a moment, he made his way to the only teahouse in town.

The teahouse was perhaps the only building in town that wasn’t modest. As soon as he entered, a waitress approached him with a smile, “What would you like?”

Wei WuXian was immediately worried.

These past few days, he’d been constantly running around and hadn’t had time to clean himself. He was practically filthy. If most teahouse waiters saw that expression, they’d be lucky if they didn’t immediately throw him out. Coming in with such enthusiasm felt a bit too contrived.

He scanned the shop quickly. The accountant stood behind the counter, looking as if he wanted to bury his face in his accounting notebook. About six people sat scattered around ten tables. Many of them wore robes, drinking tea with their heads bowed as if they were hiding something.

Wei WuXian immediately turned around to leave. However, just as he stepped out of the teahouse, a tall, dark shadow hovered over him and slammed into his chest.

Wei WuXian crashed into two tables. The waiter and accountant ran out in panic. Everyone inside took off their robes, revealing the sun robes they were wearing underneath. Wen ZhuLiu stepped through the doorway and stood in front of Wei WuXian. Seeing Wei WuXian struggling to stand and then looking at his palms, he seemed to be in deep thought. Someone kicked Wei WuXian’s bent knee, forcing him to the ground.

Wen Chao’s face appeared before him, filled with cruel glee, “You’ve fallen?! You little brat, haven’t you already jumped around enough in the Xuanwu Cave of Slaughter? You’re finished with just one attack? Hahahaha, keep jumping, see how arrogant you are!”

Wang LingJiao’s impatient voice rang out, “Quick! Young Master Wen, cut off his hand! He still owes us a favor!”

Wen Chao, “No, no, no, don’t rush. We finally found the kid. Cutting off his hand caused too much bleeding. If he dies, it won’t be fun anymore. Melt his core first. I want to hear him scream like that little bastard Jiang Cheng!”

Wang LingJiao, “Then melt the core first, then cut off his hand!”

As they discussed on the side, Wei WuXian spat out blood, “Sure! Whatever torture techniques you have, bring them out!”

Wang LingJiao menyeringai, “Catat kata-katamu.”

Wen Chao sneered, “You are so close to death and you are still playing the hero!”

Wei WuXian laughed coldly, “It’s precisely because I’m so close to death that I’m so happy! What I’m afraid of is that I won’t die. If you have the guts, torture me! The more cruel the better. After I die, I’ll definitely become a ferocious ghost and haunt the QishanWen Sect day and night, cursing all of you!”

Hearing this, Wen Chao actually hesitated. After all, disciples from renowned clans, like Jiang FengMian and Yu ZiYuan, had been influenced by their clans and treasures since childhood. When they grew up, they would undergo numerous soul-pacifying ceremonies, so the chances of them becoming vicious ghosts were very slim. But Wei WuXian was different. He was the son of a servant. He hadn’t grown up in the Jiang Sect since birth, either. He hadn’t had the opportunity to undergo so many ceremonies. If after he truly died, he became a vicious ghost haunting them with such immense resentment, which would be incredibly painful. And, given the torments he endured during his lifetime, the more numerous they were, the more widespread they were, the more vicious they were, and the more ferocious they were, the more difficult the ghosts he formed after death would be.

Seeing this, Wang LingJiao hurried over, “Young Master Wen, don’t listen to his nonsense. Not everyone can become a ferocious ghost after death. The time, the place, the situation—all of these have to be right. Besides, even if he really does become a ghost, can’t the QishanWen Sect handle this one ghost? We’ve been trying to capture him for so long. Wasn’t it all to punish him? Don’t tell me just because he bragged for a bit, you’re going to let him go?”

Wen Chao, “Of course not!”

Knowing that he was certain to die, Wei WuXian somehow calmed down. The burning hatred within him transformed into an iron-cold determination. Seeing his expression, although Wen Chao was annoyed, he was also somewhat afraid. He kicked him in the stomach, “You’re still pretending! Who are you trying to scare?! Who are you pretending to be?!”

The disciples also beat Wei WuXian along with him. Having had enough, Wen Chao finally ordered, “Enough!”

Wei WuXian spat out another mouthful of blood. His heart was already set,  Is it time to kill me? Even if I die, the situation won’t be much different. It won’t be any worse than being alive, and there’s a one-in-three chance of me becoming a vicious ghost and seeking revenge!

Thinking of this, he felt an incomparable sensation.

However, Wen Chao said, “Wei Ying, you always think that you are not afraid of anything, that you are brave and mighty, right?”

Wei WuXian replied in surprise, “Huh, so even Wen the dog can speak human language?”

Wen Chao slammed his fist down. His smile was sinister, “Keep showing off, showing off how powerful your words are. I want to see how much longer you can keep acting like a hero!”

He ordered his subordinates to restrain Wei WuXian. Wen ZhuLiu walked over and pulled him up from the ground. Wei WuXian managed to raise his head. He stared at the man who had killed Jiang FengMian and Lady Yu, and destroyed Jiang Cheng’s golden core. He seared his face and cold expression into his heart.

With him, the Wen Sect’s people flew away on their swords. The city and the mountains grew farther and farther apart. Wei WuXian thought,  Even if Jiang Cheng falls, he won’t be able to find me again… Why did they carry me so high into the air? Letting me fall to my death when they were already high enough?

After a while of flying, a black mountain suddenly appeared from among the layers of snowy clouds.

The mountain exuded a terrifying aura of death. It was as if it were a massive, thousands-year-old corpse; just looking at it made your blood run cold.

Wen Chao stopped on top of a mountain. He said, “Wei Ying, do you know where this is?” He sneered, “This place is called the Burial Mound.”

Hearing that name, a chill ran down Wei WuXian’s spine to the back of his head.

Wen Chao continued, “The Burial Mound is in Yiling. You Yunmeng people may have heard of it. It’s a mountain of corpses, a former battlefield. If you find a spot on the mountain and stick your shovel in, you’ll be able to dig up corpses. Unnamed corpses would be dumped here as well, just wrapped in mats.”

The sword line descended slowly, approaching the black peak. Wen Chao, “Look at the dark air. Ck ck ck, the hostile energy is strong, huh? And the hate energy is thick, huh? Even we in the Wen Sect are unable to do anything. We can only surround it and prevent people from entering. It’s still daytime. At night, anything can be found there. When someone who is still alive enters here, both their body and soul, they can’t go back, can’t go out forever.”

He grabbed Wei WuXian’s hair. With a terrifying grin on his face, he said one word after another, “And you won’t be able to get out either!”

After he finished, he threw Wei WuXian down.

“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh…!”
