Chapter 70 – Returning Home
Three days later, Wang Lin left the cave covered in sweat. Zhou Peng walked out behind him with teary eyes.
“Zhou Peng, return to the Xuan Dao Sect. Follow my instructions and kill everyone who wants to harm me. Protect my parents after this, too.” Wang Lin’s voice was extremely cold and filled with killing intent.
Zhou Peng nodded respectfully and moved towards the Xuan Dao Sect.
Wang Lin looked at Zhou Peng. After a long time, Wang Lin asked, “Senior Situ, this puppet technique actually doesn’t require the first step, right?”
Situ was stunned. He immediately said, “Who said that?! The first step is a must. Without the first step, you can’t do the second step.”
After Wang Lin made the doll himself, he felt something was strange. He wanted to say more, but instead asked, “Will Pun Nanzi see Zhou Peng?”
Situ Nan hesitated for a moment, then replied, “To be honest, when you made that puppet, I put some of my essence into it, so, even if a Nascent Soul cultivator didn’t examine it closely, they shouldn’t be able to find anything wrong. Besides, that Pun Nanzi should be in closed-door training most of the time, so the chances of him finding out are very slim.”
Wang Lin pondered for a moment. He moved his body and shot like a rainbow toward the village. He didn’t stop at all, flying toward his home.
Before he entered the gate, he heard a familiar voice coming from inside
“You brat, how could anyone be as bad a carpenter as you? Just look… this isn’t even as good as what my son could do.”
“Teacher, Tie Zhu is now immortal. How can I possibly match him? If I can match him, I will be satisfied.”
When Wang Lin heard this, he was stunned. He immediately sent out his divine sense. Then, he smiled. He remembered this person. He was his playmate who often pestered Wang Lin’s father to teach him carpentry.
He pushed the door gently open and said to the old figure in the yard, “Father, Tie Zhu is back.”
The old figure trembled. He immediately dropped the tool in his hand, turned around, and saw a young man around 20 years old who looked exactly like his son.
“Tie Zhu?” Wang Lin’s father rubbed his eyes hard while his tears flowed out.
Wang Lin stepped forward and hugged his father. He wiped away the tears from his father’s face as he carefully studied the familiar face. He took a few steps back, knelt on the ground, and said, “Father, Tie Zhu hasn’t been a good son. He hasn’t visited at all in the past five years.”
“It really is Tie Zhu! Wife, come out! Our son is back!” Tie Zhu’s father pulled Wang Lin. He looked at Wang Lin with a smile.
Tie Zhu’s father said happily, “Tie Zhu, you have grown taller. You are almost the same as your father. You have also become stronger. Good, that’s my son!”
At that moment, an old woman came out of the house. She looked at Wang Lin with tears in her eyes.
Wang Lin approached and knelt before the old woman with a longing expression. He said, “Mother, Tie Zhu has come back to see you.”
“You… how could you be so heartless? You haven’t come back to see us in the past five years. Are we still in your heart? For these five years, your father and I have been constantly thinking about you…” As she continued speaking, she finally hugged Tie Zhu and began to cry.
Tie Zhu’s father looked at Tie Zhu’s mother and said, “Our son is an immortal, so he should focus on more important things. Just look at how you’re acting. You’ll be the laughingstock of the town. Little Six, you can go home. Don’t bother coming back for a few days. I’ll call you when Tie Zhu leaves.”
Little Six smiled. He immediately replied and left after looking at Wang Lin in admiration.
That night, Wang Lin’s mother cooked a lot of delicious food. All the dishes were Wang Lin’s favorites. They ate and talked about the changes that had occurred in the last 5 years.
Wang Lin hadn’t needed to eat in these past few years, but his mother’s cooking smelled too delicious that he couldn’t resist it.
During the conversation, Wang Lin’s parents asked about the giant mountain that had appeared at the top of the Heng Yue Sect. Wang Lin hesitated for a moment and lied that the Heng Yue Sect had moved, so he wouldn’t be able to return as often as before. His parents didn’t inquire further about the matter. They simply told him to take care of his body.
In the past five years, much has changed. Relatives often visit, and with the help of his fourth uncle, Wang Lin’s father was able to reclaim his share of the family inheritance.
His father no longer does much carving, but he takes on a few students and passes on his skills.
Little Six is the smartest student. He’s managed to learn 50 or 60 percent of the skills.
When Wang Lin heard this, he smiled and said, “Father, I saw the wood carvings made by Little Sixth. The carvings are quite good, not as bad as Father said.”
Wang Lin’s father snorted and said, “They are still too poor! When I taught you how to carve, you were only 8 years old, and you are already better than them!”
Tie Zhu’s mother looked at her son with loving eyes and said, “Yes, our Tie Zhu has always been smarter than them. I must say, Tie Zhu, you’re not young anymore. In the past five years, many families have come to inquire about marriage. I heard that immortals can also have families. Since you’re back, stay for a while and go meet them with me. If there’s a suitable one, we can decide.”
Wang Lin was stunned and smiled wryly. “Mom, how old am I? Don’t worry about this.”
Tie Zhu’s mother immediately became displeased and glared at Wang Lin. “You brat, everyone your age in the village already has children running around.”
Wang Lin rubbed his nose and said, “Mom, starting a family is a big deal. Wait a few more years and I’ll rebuild it. How about it?”
Tie Zhu’s father saw that his wife was about to say more. He coughed and said, “Wife, why are you worrying about these trivial matters? Our son is an immortal. Do you understand immortals? How could they marry ordinary mortals? Tie Zhu said that he would bring back an immortal wife. Do you understand?”
Tie Zhu’s mother paused for a moment and muttered, “What’s so good about immortals? Immortals can leave home and not return for five years. If I had an immortal daughter-in-law, my son might not even bring her back after ten years.”
Wang Lin smiled wryly. Just as he was about to speak, his mother glared at him and said, “Okay, I’ll listen to your father. I think you’ve set your sights high, and the girls in the village won’t catch your eye. I’ll wait and see what kind of girl you bring back.”
When Wang Lin saw his mother angry, he immediately said, “Mom, don’t worry. Your son will definitely give you a good daughter-in-law.”
After dinner, Wang Lin’s parents asked him many things until late at night before they finally went to sleep.
