Wu Bolin’s Dramatic Escape Under a Hail of Bullets
Kohei Kikuchi did not object or refuse his master’s final request at all.
Without thinking twice, he answered in a firm, respectful tone.
“It would be my honor to die for you, Master. Rest assured, I will guarantee with my life that your secret will not be revealed!”
Wu Bolin nodded in satisfaction. This blind loyalty was his only remaining asset.
“Now,” Wu Bolin ordered, “Cover my path of retreat according to your plan!”
“Ready, Master!”
Without hesitation, Kikuchi immediately spoke through the radio intercom.
“Other vehicles, move behind me immediately! Provide formation cover now!”
At that command, the other expedition vehicles quickly maneuvered. They moved behind the lead vehicle, forming a protective wall. Meanwhile, in the distance, the American military’s pincer grip continued to close in.
“Master,” Kikuchi reported, “the closer they get, the larger the blind spot created for the radar. Once the distance is reduced, you can escape!”
Wu Bolin sighed softly.
“Human greed is like a snake trying to swallow an elephant,” he muttered bitterly. “Trying to steal a chicken, but losing the rice instead.”
“Now, not only have we lost the Wu Han Palace, but our entire exploration ambitions in Antarctica have to be stopped by force.”
US Military Warning Shots
Behind them, the US military convoy did not slow down.
Despite their advanced military vehicles, the polar terrain remained a formidable challenge. Even at full speed, they struggled to keep up with the lighter Japanese snowmobiles.
Seeing that his target wouldn’t stop, the US commander lost patience. A warning sound erupted over the public channel.
“Japanese expedition team vehicles! If you don’t stop, we will shoot you!”
The threat was immediately proven.
BOOM! HANDS!
A series of cannon shots rang out in rapid succession. Heavy machine guns sprayed bullets, blasting a series of large ice craters right in front of Wu Bolin’s snowmobile path.
Shards of ice flew into the air.

The snowmobile had no armor. A single shot would have been enough to create a large crater and rip apart anyone inside.
“Teacher!” Kikuchi’s face tightened with seriousness. “This American bastard actually shot! You have to leave now before you get hurt!”
Wu Bolin was really surprised.
Even though he knew modern weapons were powerful, seeing their speed and destructive power firsthand was something else.
Dozens of bullets were fired in a single second. The explosion crater appeared almost simultaneously with the sound of gunfire.
“Its speed is almost the speed of sound,” Wu Bolin thought with a mixture of awe and horror.
It can move that fast at full power, but not continuously. Meanwhile, this war machine can fire tirelessly.
“What should we do?” Wu Bolin asked nervously. “If I run now, will they shoot me?”
“Don’t rush, Masato,” Kikuchi urged. “Wait until they get closer. Let their attention be on us. That’s when you go.”
Shadows in the Snow
Wu Bolin knew there was no other way. His heart was pounding. He mustered all his energy, ready to explode at full speed.
The American vehicles were getting closer. The deterrent effect of the previous shots had made them confident that the target would surrender.
When the distance was very close, and the view was blocked by the car body… Wu Bolin took action.

His figure shot out from the front of the vehicle like lightning.
He ducked, using the still-moving snowmobile as a radar shield. In an instant, he disappeared into the darkness of the blizzard.
The US military’s advanced detection equipment failed to capture him due to the physical obstruction of the Japanese vehicle. Wu Bolin escaped.
Moments later, the snowmobile convoy came to a complete stop.
Fully armed American soldiers immediately jumped down, surrounded the vehicle, and pointed their guns.
“Surrender now!”
In the car, Kikuchi took a deep breath. His final mission had begun.
“Everyone must surrender unconditionally!” he ordered over the radio.
He opened the door, raised both hands, and stepped out into the enemy’s gun barrel.
