When Goro Watanabe rushed into the detention room, a horrific sight greeted him.
Kohei Kikuchi’s body hung stiffly from the bathroom door frame.
His suicide weapon wasn’t a rope, but his own thermal pants. This special polar material was incredibly strong; if his legs were tied together, he could easily support the weight of an adult weighing up to 70 kilograms.
What was most chilling was not his death, but the expression on his face.

“I don’t know for sure. If there’s no element of treason, it’s probably less than five years. Unless… he’s accused of treason, which could be the death penalty.”
“Don’t joke!” the US official sneered. “Even terrorists are rarely executed these days. Why did he choose to die?”
Watanabe exploded, his emotions uncontrollable.
“I don’t know either! You isolated him! You forbade us from talking to him!”
Watanabe countered, “Could it be that you tortured him? Did you force him to confess until he broke down?”
Seeing the situation heating up, the military official didn’t want to bother.
“Enough! Take these Japanese to the Third District! Keep them there. Don’t let them out without my permission!”
Watanabe and his delegation were officially placed under house arrest within their own allied station.
Charlie Moves in the Shadows
While chaos ensues at McMurdo, Charlie moves alone in the midst of the storm.
He departed from the Nordic research station for his next target: Showa Station, Japan.
Nanako’s information was very accurate. The US military had intercepted the Japanese team, and Wu Bolin had escaped.
This meant one thing: Showa Station was now empty of Wu Bolin’s guard, and the US military would surely seize it soon.
Charlie’s mission this time is not to fight, but to be an eyewitness.
