Chapter 5325: Are you injured?
At that moment, David’s breath lingered on her forehead, carrying a faint, subtle scent, more soothing than any elixir.
“My brother…”
Ling Xue gathered her courage and looked up, her gaze meeting David’s smiling eyes. “How was it in Earthly Fairyland?”
“Like…”
David pondered for a moment, then raised his hand and lightly grasped a nearby boulder. The blue stone, half a man’s height, shattered into pieces without a sound.
“Before, I saw the mountain as just a mountain. Now, I can clearly see the veins in each stone.”
He pulled her hand away, his fingertips gently touching her cheek. “Just like looking at you now, I can sense subtle fluctuations in your spiritual power. Are you thinking about that pagoda again?”
Ling Xue’s face turned red. She suddenly pulled her hand back, took a half step back, and glared at him angrily. “Brother, you’re making fun of me again!”
But the rebuke was weak, like a spring breeze blowing across a lake, creating gentle ripples.
He turned and walked towards the sect’s main gate, his steps much slower than when he came, leaving a deliberate half-step gap, waiting for the person behind him to catch up.
David watched her hurry back, her shoulders swaying slightly, and he chuckled softly.
He hurried after her, walking side by side on the mountain path, the stones beneath his feet making a soft rustling sound.
“By the way,” Ling Xue suddenly stopped and took out a small brocade pouch from her storage bag, handing it to him. “This is the dried flower of ‘Heart-to-Heart’. Take it.”
“Ancient texts say… this flower allows a cultivator to unite his mind and body during battle.”
The pouch had been embroidered with his own vital spirit silk, and a small sword-shaped pattern was hidden in the corner, the symbol of a Sword Sect disciple.
David took the bag, feeling it light in his hands, yet feeling like he was holding a warm heart.
He bent down to sniff, the fresh scent of flowers mixed with the scent of Ling Xue’s fingertips, more soothing than any protective magic weapon.
“Then I’ll keep it.” He tucked the brocade pouch into his collar, holding it to his chest. “After we return from the Black Wind Mountains, I’ll teach you a new sword technique. I learned it during my breakthrough, and it’s perfect for your current spiritual power.”
Ling Xue’s eyes lit up, and she nodded enthusiastically, “Okay.”
They walked without much conversation, but occasionally shook hands, or glanced at each other as they avoided low branches, like a gentle mountain stream, full of indescribable tenderness.
As they approached the sect’s mountain gate, Ling Xue suddenly remembered something, paused, and took out a small jade bottle from her sleeve. “Here… you take this too.”
The bottle contained a pale pink ointment that he had specially made using “Snow Skin Grass”.
“I don’t need it,” David smiled and tried to push her away, but Ling Xue stubbornly pressed it against his hand.
“Bring it!”
Ling Xue’s tone was very firm, and her cheeks were even redder. “There are many evil spirits in the Black Wind Mountains. What if… what if you get hurt? This ointment can remove the poison.”
As if afraid he would refuse again, she turned and jogged through the mountain gate, her skirt brushing against the stone steps, leaving light footprints.
David held the warm jade bottle in his hand and watched it disappear down the corridor. He smiled and carefully placed the bottle into his storage bag.
The mountain wind blew past the mountain gate, carrying shouts from the distant training grounds. He took a deep breath and headed towards the Sword Sect headquarters.
Upon arriving at the Sword Sect headquarters, Ling Xue felt her legs weaken, her steps became unnatural, and she couldn’t help but frown with each step.
“Senior Sister Ling Xue, what’s wrong with you? Are you hurt?”
a young student asked worriedly, noticing his unsteady steps.
Ling Xue’s cheeks immediately turned red, she stuttered and couldn’t speak, looking at David in panic, as if asking for help.
