Chapter 5364 Mixed Blood
“Since Fellow Daoist Chen possesses true talent and knowledge, it is time to let the entire Divine Kingdom know of your strength and convince everyone,”
Wu Hao pondered. “Ziyuan, take Fellow Daoist Chen to the martial arts arena and have the Imperial Guard commander arrange a sparring match. This will allow Fellow Daoist Chen to familiarize himself with the Divine Kingdom’s combat capabilities.”
Ziyuan nodded and gestured to David, “Fellow Daoist Chen, please follow me. The Divine Kingdom Imperial Guards are among the best fighters in Sixth Heaven, and the martial arts arena is home to the Divine Kingdom’s most elite cultivators.”
David did not refuse; he also wanted to ascertain the true power of the Divine Kingdom.
Cooperation presupposes equality. If everyone in the Divine Kingdom were as strong as Wei Feng, such cooperation would likely be difficult to achieve.
The two left the palace and headed for the martial arts arena on the west side of the Divine Capital.
The Divine Clan cultivators along the way, noticing Ziyuan’s respectful attitude towards David and remembering the rumor of David breaking Wei Feng’s arm at the academy, looked at David with renewed admiration, instead of their previous contempt.
The Divine Kingdom’s martial arts arena was far more magnificent than David had imagined. The arena was entirely paved with dark black ironstone, the ground carved with shock-absorbing formation patterns. Dozens of stone pillars carved with divine patterns stood along the edges, each topped with a suspended crystal ball that recorded the battle records.
Hundreds of Imperial Guards in silver armor were training, their golden spiritual energy wafting through the air, their war cries deafening.
“That is the commander of the Imperial Guard, Ao Lie,”
Zi Yuan pointed to a burly man in the center of the arena and whispered, “He is a fusion of Dragon and God, with a cultivation level at the peak of the eighth rank of the Earthly Immortal Realm. His ability with the ‘Sky Splitting Spear’ is unparalleled, and he is ranked tenth on the Divine Kingdom martial arts rankings.”
“Dragon?” David was shocked. Following Zi Yuan’s gaze, he saw Ao Lie, over eight feet tall, with long, turquoise hair tied back. His face was stern, and he exuded a cold aura.
He wielded a silver spear, several feet long, directing the Imperial Guard’s drills. The spearhead occasionally pierced the air, tearing it apart with a sharp, violent blast.
Ao Lie, sensing their gazes, turned his head. His brows furrowed as his gaze landed on David.
The cultivator before him was only a first-rank Earth Immortal, dressed in ordinary clothes, his spiritual energy pulsing with worldly energy. It was hard to see what made him so extraordinary that he could even be accompanied by Zi Yuan’s staff.
“Master Zi Yuan, who is this?”
Ao Lie sheathed his silver spear and stepped closer, his tone tinged with arrogance.
In his opinion, anyone who could catch Zi Yuan’s attention had to be at least an eighth-level Earth Immortal. A “low-level cultivator” like David wasn’t even worthy of appearing in the martial arts arena.
“Commander Ao, this is Fellow Daoist David, an honored guest invited by the king.”
Zi Yuan’s tone was flat, but with an undeniable majesty, “The King ordered you to hold a competition so that Fellow Daoist Chen can see the strength of the palace guards.”
Ao Lie’s face showed obvious disdain when he heard this. He looked David up and down and sneered, “Master Zi Yuan, you’re not joking, are you? Letting me compete with a first-rate cultivator in the Earth Immortal Realm? If this gets out, wouldn’t everyone laugh? My Divine Kingdom Imperial Guard can’t afford to lose face like this!”
The imperial guards who were training nearby also glanced over, and after seeing David’s territory, they couldn’t help but laugh, and the sound of discussion rang out one after another.
“The commander is right. A first-grade Earth Immortal is worthy of a match with the commander? I’m afraid he’ll be killed in one blow!”
“I think he’s just here to join in the fun. Maybe he had another way to get brought here by Miss Ziyuan.”
“I can beat up ten of those bastards with one hand!”
David remained expressionless, as if oblivious to the taunt.
He knew full well that in a world where strength reigned, verbal arguments were meaningless; only fists could silence them.
