The deeper one goes, the more violent the Void Path becomes. The chaotic origin scrapes against the protective aura, making it buzz and hum, as if someone is sanding his skin with sandpaper.

David’s heart sank: If this godforsaken place really harbored a Celestial King-level figure capable of reshaping his physical body, how could he have been so easily spotted?

If it were really that easy to find, Wan Jianxing wouldn’t have been trapped for hundreds of thousands of years.

Just as they were about to head back, a strange noise suddenly came from the void ahead.

The unusual activity came without any warning.

First came a very faint fishy smell. There shouldn’t be any smell in the void, but that fishy smell somehow managed to get into David’s nose.

It was like a corpse that had rotted for countless years and was frozen in the void, finally melting away at this moment and releasing its last wisp of turbid breath.

David paused in his steps.

Immediately afterwards, the void in front of them began to “bulge”.

It was a very strange feeling.

Even though I couldn’t see anything, the darkness in front of me seemed to rise up like the surface of water, creating one bulge after another.

The bulge arched higher and higher, and something seemed to be wriggling inside. Even through the layers of darkness, one could feel the oppressive aura—pure, primal ferocity, completely different from the hostility between cultivators.

A cultivator’s killing intent still retains a human element, but this thing’s ferocity is as if evil was ingrained in its very bones since the beginning of time.

David squinted, then suddenly laughed: “Oh, this godforsaken place even keeps living things?”

As soon as he finished speaking, a bulge burst open with a “poof”.

No blood or flesh gushed out of the ruptured bulge. Instead, a black, viscous mass of something twisted and turned in the void before quickly solidifying into a beast-like form—several zhang long, entirely black, as if molded from pure darkness.

Its limbs were as thick as pillars, and its head was densely packed with seven or eight vertical pupils, each gleaming with a ghostly green light. They had no eyelids, never blinked, and were fixed on David.

Void-native alien beasts.

This thing has no mane, no scales, and its body is as smooth as a mirror, except for a layer of grayish-white, bone-like hard shell at its joints.

It stared at David, its seven or eight vertical pupils on its head turning simultaneously, then suddenly froze, and then opened its mouth.

It didn’t roar.

The moment it opened its mouth, the light around David suddenly dimmed—the beast was “inhaling,” pulling all the light, spiritual energy, and Daoist charm within a thousand miles, along with the chaotic energy on David’s body, into that mouth.

The suction was so strong that even the storm solidified in the void was deformed and poured into its mouth.

David raised an eyebrow: “Absorbing Daoist essence? Interesting.”

He casually flicked out a wisp of chaotic sword energy.

The sword energy pierced the air, striking the beast’s head with pinpoint accuracy.

puff.

The sword energy entered his body, and his skull cracked open.

But then, the split skull closed up again like water, leaving only a shallow dent, which was smoothed out in an instant.

It wasn’t even injured; it still had its mouth open, greedily sucking up everything around it, and a hint of mockery even shone in its seven or eight vertical pupils.

David then abandoned his initial disdain.

Although that sword strike was casual, it was enough to shatter the physical body of an ordinary Immortal King. Yet, when it landed on this beast, it only left a dent.

“Good guy,”

David clicked his tongue twice, “Things raised in the void are indeed tough and resilient.”

Before he finished speaking, bulges began to appear one after another in the surrounding void.

One, five, a dozen In the blink of an eye, hundreds of bulges rose up densely in the crevice within a radius of dozens of miles, one after another, as if the entire void was about to hatch something.

David’s eyelids twitched.

Puff puff puff—

Almost simultaneously, hundreds of bulges burst open, and hundreds of jet-black beasts emerged from them.

Not a single one roared; they all stood silently with their mouths agape, greedily sucking up everything in the void.

Hundreds of mouths sucked at the same time, forming an invisible vortex. Even the void beneath David’s feet began to distort and sink, as if it were about to be drained dry by the beast horde.

David sighed, rubbing his wrists as he muttered, “Fine, I was just trying to greet you politely, but you had to pull this stunt.”

“I’m in a hurry to find someone, don’t waste my time.”

He pointed his fingers like a sword and raised his hand to make a sweeping motion.

A bright sword light pierced the void, stretching over a thousand feet, splitting the crevice in two.

Wherever the sword light passed, hundreds of strange beasts were instantly cut in two, the cut surfaces as smooth as mirrors.

The strange beast that could be broken in two did not die.

There was no blood or internal organs at the cut surface, only clumps of writhing darkness.

The two bodies twisted and rolled, then reformed into two complete beasts right before David’s eyes.

One became two, two became four. In the blink of an eye, the herd of beasts not only didn’t decrease, but doubled in number.

David’s smile froze: “Damn”

He finally understood why these beasts dared to roam freely in this void.

The void is primordial, neither born nor dying.

It shatters, then reforms from the very essence of the void, multiplying with each severing.

Unless you completely annihilate their origins in one fell swoop, it’s all in vain no matter how many times you fight them.

This crevice is their home, an inexhaustible source of void essence. They are the offspring of this darkness itself, impossible to kill or eradicate completely.

The hundreds of strange beasts reassembled and rushed towards David.

In the time that followed, David witnessed firsthand how troublesome the Void Primal truly was.

He unleashed wave after wave of sword light, each strike shattering several strange beasts, but those fragments instantly coalesced into new individuals, their numbers increasing rather than decreasing.

He tried to stimulate the Chaos Origin to grind it, but as soon as the Chaos Origin was spread out, it was devoured by hundreds of mouths.

These beasts even dared to swallow chaos, and the chaos they swallowed became their origin, causing them to grow even larger.
