Married at First Sight Serenity And Zachary York english, Indonesian
Chapter 106
Old Mrs. Hunt was notorious in town for her fiery temper. Assertive and unyielding, she maintained that her children and grandchildren were blameless. It was uncertain how long she could sustain such pride.
Unaware of how her relatives spent the night, Serenity enjoyed a restful sleep. As morning arrived, she dreamt of her parents, calling out to them as she tried to reach them but only grasped at air. By the time she woke, her pillow was soaked with tears.
Serenity stared blankly at the ceiling for a long while before sitting up. She grabbed tissues to wipe the traces of tears from her cheeks and mumbled to herself, “Mom, Dad, did you know your daughters were bullied? Don’t worry. Liberty and I aren’t the same kids from fifteen years ago. They can’t push us around anymore.”
She picked up her phone, which she had muted before going to bed. There were numerous missed calls and unread text messages. Serenity checked the missed calls, noting that they were from unfamiliar numbers, likely the Hunts. She skimmed through two of the text messages, which pleaded with her to delete the tweet and insisted that they were family no matter what.
The Hunts claimed they would be ruined because of her. They said the family would put everything behind them if Serenity deleted the post and that she would not need to cover the grandmother’s medical expenses. However, they asked her to visit her grandmother in the hospital if she had a heart, suggesting it was the least she could do as a granddaughter.
Serenity was not inclined to read more of these messages. The Hunts still believed they were in the right while accusing Serenity of overreacting. It seemed they failed to recognize that they were the ones who had instigated the conflict. Without sufficient evidence, Liberty and Serenity would have been torn apart by public opinion.
Why should Serenity fulfill her role as a granddaughter when her grandparents had done nothing for them? Should she be grateful that her grandparents took half of her parents’ life insurance payout or that they had mistreated the sisters and expelled them from their parents’ home?
Serenity wasn’t interested in such notions. Aside from the Hunts’ texts, she received messages of concern from Jasmine, Shawn, and friends. Serenity replied to them, reassuring them that she was doing well.
After a quick wash-up and change of clothes, Serenity headed to the kitchen to prepare a rich and nutritious breakfast for Zachary. She made it extra special today as a gesture of thanks for his help and support.
When Zachary emerged from his room to find a lavish breakfast spread out on the table, he asked, “Serenity, did you invite anyone over for breakfast? What’s with this feast?”
“We’re not expecting guests. It’s just us,” Serenity replied.
Dumbstruck, Zachary grinned. “Are pigs flying? To what do I owe this grand banquet from our master chef?”
Serenity removed her apron and responded, “Yes, pigs are flying. It’s a pity you woke up late and missed the miracle.”
Zachary was entertained by her cheeky remark and laughed heartily, enjoying the playful exchange with his wife.
