Married at First Sight Serenity And Zachary York english, Indonesian
Chapter 108
“You don’t have to transfer the money for the car,” Zachary said, shifting the topic back to the recent vehicle purchase.
Serenity had been sending Zachary fifty thousand dollars daily via his mobile device, but he had never accepted any of the transactions. The first transfer had even been returned to her account.
“I got you a car because it reflects well on me. Presentation matters. Even though I’m busy with work, there will be times I need to bring you to business dinners. It would be embarrassing if people found out my wife rides a malfunctioning e-bike,” Zachary explained, emphasizing the importance of appearances.
“I thought it was an apology gift,” Serenity retorted.
Zachary paused before responding, “It works both ways.”
“Well, don’t give me any more living allowances for the year since you’ve already given me a car,” Serenity said.
Zachary raised his chin and stared at her, neither affirming nor denying. Serenity took his silence as a confirmation. It was a relief to her, feeling as though she no longer owed him anything.
“Don’t worry about your relatives for now. They might be stubborn now, but it won’t last long. They’ll apologize eventually. You and your sister should consider taking them to court over your parents’ house. You should make them pay at least half, if not all,” Zachary advised.
“No need to go soft on people who prey on you and walk all over you,” he added. Zachary would have made the Hunts’ lives a living hell if he had the choice. While he could offer suggestions, the decision was ultimately Serenity’s.
“I’ll go to court to reclaim my parents’ home after Grandmom’s surgery,” Serenity replied.
“Okay,” Zachary agreed. Serenity was trying to show some leniency since they were still family.
After breakfast, Serenity went to the kitchen and brought out two containers. “Most of the breakfast is untouched, so I’ll pack it up for you. You can take it to the office and eat it when you’re hungry. We shouldn’t waste food.”
Zachary frowned; he felt that bringing packed lunch to the office was beneath him as the CEO.
“I’m full. I don’t need any packed lunch,” he said.
“Alright then. I’ll take the food to the shop. Jasmine loves my breakfast, and Shawn usually stops by on his way to work. I’ll text him now to come by for breakfast,” Serenity said. She resolved never to make such a large breakfast again.
Though Serenity’s feelings for Shawn were purely platonic, the mention of him put Zachary in a foul mood. He fell silent for a moment before reluctantly conceding.
“Give me the packed food. Callum works in the same office too. I’ll bring some for him,” Zachary said, preferring to distribute the food himself rather than let Shawn have it.
“Don’t make too much food, even if it’s to thank me. It’s just the two of us. How many are you trying to feed?” Zachary noted, observing that Serenity had prepared an excessive amount.
“Callum, is it? Alright, share the food with him,” Serenity agreed.
Zachary’s younger brothers and cousins had made quite an impression on Serenity, primarily due to their charming appearances.
“Sure,” Zachary responded.
After packing the food into containers, Serenity cleared the table and washed the dishes. She then went to the balcony to water her plants. With the flowers in full bloom, Serenity took her usual bunch of photos and shared them on Facebook.
Although Zachary rarely used Facebook, he made a point to check out Serenity’s updates. Her posts gave him insight into her personality. He was always the first to view her flower posts but never liked them, preferring to keep his interest discreet.
