Married at First Sight Serenity And Zachary York english, Indonesian
Chapter 115
Liberty said, “But not all men are like Hank. Jasmine, don’t shy away from marriage just because of my failed marriage. If you do, I’ll feel guilty forever.”
She thought of Serenity’s best friend, who was still single and facing pressure from her family to marry.
Jasmine smiled and replied, “I know there are bad ones out there. I just want to find someone I genuinely like and can trust when I marry. I won’t let your situation influence my decision. I’ll be cautious about the family of anyone I consider marrying in the future.”
Jasmine’s mother often reminded her that marriage wasn’t just about the person you marry but also about integrating into their family and social circle. There was a lot to consider.
Jasmine glanced at Serenity with admiration. Despite her challenging marriage, Liberty was taking her time to carefully consider her options before making any drastic decisions, especially with Sonny in mind. Liberty needed to ensure she could support herself and be on par with Hank before she could proceed with a divorce.
Serenity and Zachary had a marriage arranged at first sight, with neither knowing the other beforehand. Jasmine acknowledged that such a marriage required immense courage—something she felt she lacked.
At least Zachary was better than Hank. When Serenity faced difficulties, Zachary tried his best to help and never gave up. Still, the half-year agreement between them made Jasmine uneasy about her friend’s future.
Serenity kept her thoughts to herself, as some matters were best left unsaid.
Ring, ring, ring…
Serenity’s phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID, then handed Sonny to her sister. “Zachary’s calling,” she said.
“I’ll head outside to take the call,” Serenity added, wanting to keep their conversation private. Liberty assumed Serenity wanted some privacy with her husband.
Serenity stepped outside the bookstore. Once she was sure she was far enough from her sister to keep the conversation confidential, she answered Zachary’s call.
“Mr. York, what’s the matter?” Serenity asked.
There was silence on the other end of the line. Zachary did not respond immediately.
Serenity thought the call might not have connected, so she moved the phone away from her ear to check. “Mr. York, can you hear me?” she asked again.
“Mm,” Zachary finally responded.
His hesitation made Serenity consider hanging up if he didn’t speak soon.
“What’s wrong, Mr. York?” Serenity asked once more.
Zachary struggled to articulate why he had called. He had just returned to his office after a meeting and had a few free minutes when he made the call.
He immediately regretted it upon hearing Serenity’s voice.
“Have any of your relatives contacted you?” Zachary finally asked, trying to find a reason for his call.
“They’ve sent me numerous messages,” Serenity replied. “I read a few and ignored the rest. They asked me to delete my response to the tweet, promising not to ask for money if I did. They’re refusing to acknowledge their fault and even called me ruthless.”
“Don’t delete it. Let the public see their true colors,” Zachary advised.
“I won’t delete it,” Serenity said firmly. “I want them to publicly apologize to me and my sister and promise not to extort us again.”
