Chapter 120

The dish Hank had cooked turned out to be unpalatable and oddly sweet. How could it be sweet? Had he mistaken sugar for salt?

He immediately went into the kitchen and checked the seasoning box. It contained sugar, salt, and monosodium glutamate all mixed together. It seemed he had confused sugar for salt while cooking.

Before Hank got married, his mother had always cooked for him at home. After marriage, the Hunt sisters had cooked for him. He had never had to cook for himself, which might explain why his dish was so unpalatable.

He looked at the pot of pasta. Since Liberty had measured everything for him, the pasta itself was edible. However, the spoiled Hank found it unbearable to eat plain pasta without any seasoning or meat.

His frustration grew as he thought about how hard he had worked that day only to come home to find no food ready. Angrily, he went into the bedroom and found Liberty sitting on the bed, absorbed in her phone.

Hank’s anger boiled over. He stormed over, slapped Liberty’s phone out of her hand, grabbed her hair, and dragged her to the floor. He began hitting and kicking her, careful not to make too much noise and wake their sleeping son.

Liberty was caught off guard by Hank’s sudden attack. As he dragged her down by her hair, she quickly fought back. Despite being at a disadvantage due to Hank’s strength and the surprise of the attack, Liberty resisted fiercely.

She recalled advice from a colleague: in a domestic dispute, the woman must win the first fight to set boundaries. If she lost, it could lead to repeated violence. Determined not to be easily defeated, Liberty fought back with everything she had, despite her injuries.

When Hank threw another punch, Liberty bit down hard on his arm, making him cry out in pain. He tried to pull her hair harder, but her bite only tightened.

“Liberty, let go! Let go of me!” Hank shouted, unable to endure the pain. He released his grip on her hair and tried to push her away.

The moment Hank let go, Liberty took the opportunity to pounce on him. Over the past two years, Liberty had gained weight, and now she used her full body weight to pin Hank down.

With renewed strength, Liberty slapped Hank’s face with all her might, continuing to hit him until he cried out and bled from the corners of his mouth. She only stopped when he was clearly hurt and in distress.

Gasping for breath, Liberty got up and went to the kitchen, retrieving a kitchen knife. Meanwhile, Hank, bruised and battered, called his parents and sister to complain that he had taught Liberty a lesson, but she had retaliated.

When Hank saw Liberty charging at him with the knife, he was horrified and decided to stop complaining. He quickly fled the house, narrowly escaping from Liberty’s pursuit.
