The Presidential Spokesperson’s Nightmare and Diplomatic Crisis

While the eastern world was burning, Washington was still sleeping in the darkness of night.

Tense atmosphere at the White House as torture scandal news leaks at midnight
A midnight phone ring that wakes up a nightmare for the United States government.

In a luxurious residence, the White House Press Secretary is sleeping soundly next to her much older husband.

Suddenly, the ringing of the telephone broke the silence.

He jolted awake, picking up the phone with heavy eyes. However, the first sentence on the other end made him jump out of bed.

“What?! The troop deployment to Antarctica was leaked online?!” she screamed hysterically.

“How could the military make such a stupid mistake?!”

Her husband woke up with a start. “What’s wrong, honey?”

The spokesperson smiled stiffly, trying to hide her panic. “Just a minor emergency. Go back to sleep.”

He grabbed his phone and ran out of the room, his face twisted into a mask of anger.

Intelligence Failure

“Who recorded it?!” he shouted into the phone.

“We don’t know, ma’am,” the staff member on the other end replied, her voice trembling. “The CIA and Homeland Security are tracking it. But the uploader used a highly anonymous server. Their trail is gone.”

The spokesman paced back and forth anxiously.

“You bunch of idiots!” he cursed. “Gather all staff at the White House now! We have to prepare a denial!”

“Ma’am… there’s a bigger problem,” the staff member interrupted hesitantly.

“The issue isn’t about troop deployment. It’s about torture videos.”

“What video?”

“Our military stripped Japanese scientists naked and dried them in temperatures of minus 60 degrees. The public said we were like Fascist Japan in World War II. This is the biggest public relations crisis of the century.”

The spokesperson felt his blood stop flowing. “Send the video. Now.”

Watching Evidence of Crime

The video came in. He pressed it with trembling fingers.

On the small screen, he saw the cruelty of his own country’s soldiers. His vision darkened. He nearly fainted.

This is not just a tactical error. This is a humanitarian disaster.

“The world has reacted, ma’am,” the staff member continued. “Japan, Russia, Europe… everyone is demanding an explanation. Should we wake the President?”

The spokesperson paused for a moment, thinking about the President, who was under immense stress.

“Don’t,” he decided firmly.

“The President is already having a headache over the ‘Island’ scandal. That crazy woman from Bill’s family keeps harassing him about partner swapping… The President will go crazy if this problem gets added to the mix.”

“We have to handle this ourselves first. Protect the President as best we can.”

He turned off the phone and went back to the bedroom.

In the walk-in closet , she hurriedly changed clothes. Her tired husband peeked from behind the door.

“Honey, why are you out so late?”

While buttoning his blazer, the Spokesman stared blankly into the mirror.

“Something big has happened,” he muttered under his breath. “And I have to clean up this mess before sunrise.”
