Chapter 7 – Leaving Home
“That’s right! Fourth brother, we’re speaking for you because you gave your place to second brother. What Wang Zhuo said is true, your son is stronger than Tie Zhu. He might really be chosen by the gods,” Tie Zhu’s fifth brother added from the side.
Wang Zhuo, with a proud smile, boasted, “Their own family brought this upon themselves. Father and I warned them beforehand. This useless family is as stubborn as a donkey. Now they’ve run into a wall.”
Wang Hao said with a pale face, “Tie Zhu, he…”
Before he could finish his sentence, Wang Hao’s father glared at him. He lost all confidence and fell silent.
Tie Zhu’s fourth uncle took a deep breath and said, “Whoever brings this up again means they have something against me, let this be over. Tie Zhu not being selected can only be said to be his lack of luck and nothing else. Tie Zhu, don’t take it personally, you can come to your fourth uncle for anything. I have no say in the matters of the immortal sect, but when it comes to normal sects, your uncle still has the ability to possess you. You can go with my son, Hu Zi. I’ve always planned to send him to the sect to train.”
Wang Zhuo chuckled when he heard this. He said mockingly, “Tie Zhu, I say go with Fourth Uncle. When you get there, you can tell them that you’re trash rejected by the gods. They might actually accept you.”
Wang Lin slowly raised his head. He looked around, glaring at all the relatives around him. When his eyes finally landed on Wang Zhuo, he said, “Wang Zhuo, remember my words. I, Wang Lin, will definitely enter the immortal school. I will also never forget how you and your father insulted my family.”
Wang Zhuo laughed when he heard Tie Zhu’s words, but before he could say anything, Fourth Uncle shouted at Wang Zhuo, “You talkative brat! I’ll waste you right now! Let’s see if the gods still want you.”
Wang Zhuo’s father suddenly looked pale. He hurriedly stepped in front of Wang Zhuo. “Fourth brother, you wouldn’t dare!”
All the relatives around held cold smiles on their faces as they watched the scene unfold in front of them.
Tie Zhu’s fourth uncle laughed. His eyes were sharp. In a low, deep voice, he said, “Really, brother? I wouldn’t dare?”
Tie Zhu’s father immediately stepped forward to pull his fourth brother back. “Fourth brother, listen to your second brother. You have a wife and children at home, so act like this isn’t worth it to you. I will always remember what you’ve done for me. Just bring my family home.”
Fourth Uncle glared at Wang Zhuo’s father. He then nodded at his second brother and left the house with Tie Zhu and his family.
Even from afar, Wang Lin could hear the relatives in the courtyard mocking him and his family.
The family sat in Fourth Uncle’s carriage as he drove them home.
Silence enveloped the carriage. Tie Zhu’s father sighed softly. It wouldn’t be true to say he wasn’t disappointed, but Tie Zhu was still his son. He finally broke the silence. “Tie Zhu, this is nothing, okay? When I was forced out of the house before, I was much more desperate than you, but I still persevered. Listen to your father. Go home and study. Strive to do well in next year’s district exam. If you don’t want to read, go relax with your fourth uncle.”
Tie Zhu’s mother looked at her son lovingly and comforted him. “Tie Zhu, don’t do anything stupid. You’re my only son. If anything happens to you, I won’t want to live anymore. You have to be strong.” As she spoke, tears streamed down her face.
Wang Lin looked at his parents. He nodded and said, “Mom, Dad, don’t worry. I won’t do anything stupid. Don’t worry, I have a plan.”
Tie Zhu’s mother hugged him. Holding him, she said, “Tie Zhu, it’s all over. We’ll put this matter behind us.”
In his mother’s warm embrace, Tie Zhu’s wounded heart slowly recovered. He felt tired after the events of the past few days. As the carriage rocked up and down, Tie Zhu slowly fell asleep.
He had a dream. He dreamed that he was an immortal, flying in the sky with his parents….
When Tie Zhu woke up, it was already late at night. He sighed softly as he looked around the familiar room. His heart was settled. Before leaving the house, he took a long, deep look at his sleeping parents. He grabbed a pen and paper and wrote a letter. After eating a fair amount of dry food, he set off.
“I won’t give up on the path to immortality. I must try joining the Heng Yue Sect one more time! If they still won’t accept me, I must at least find the location of another immortal sect.” Wang Lin’s eyes were filled with determination as he left the mountain village, carrying only a bag.
With the moonlight illuminating his path and the stars marking his direction, Wang Lin stepped forward, only his long shadow accompanying him.
Three days had passed. Wang Lin was walking on a remote mountain path. He had reopened his eyes when the young immortal carried him. He could still remember the general direction.
Heading east, Wang Lin ignored the wild grass that cut his legs. He continued to walk forward.
After a week, he had entered the interior of the mountains. Fortunately, there were no man-eating beasts here. Wang Lin carefully followed his path. Today, when he looked up, he could finally see the familiar misty peaks on the isolated hilltop.
Tie Zhu was completely exhausted by now. He took out some dried food and took a few bites while staring at the entrance of the Heng Yue Sect. Wang Lin’s hair stood on end as he heard the sound of a wild beast breathing behind him. He turned around, and all the color drained from his face.
A large white tiger with blood-red eyes filled the air. Drops of saliva dripped from the corners of its mouth, making a dripping sound as it fell to the ground.
The white tiger roared as it pounced. Wang Lin revealed a bitter smile and, without hesitation, jumped off the cliff. He felt the wind blow against his face as he fell. He couldn’t help but remember the look in his parents’ eyes, as well as all the relatives who had mocked him.
“Father, Mother, your child doesn’t listen to you. This is goodbye.”
The cliff face was covered with numerous tree branches. Tie Zhu’s body was cut by the branches as he fell at breakneck speed. Moments later, mid-fall, Tie Zhu felt a tremendous force pulling him down.
Wang Lin couldn’t control his body as the force pulled him. Before he knew it, he was inside a cave carved into the cliff wall. He felt a powerful force constantly pulling his body toward the wall. After a long time, the force finally dissipated, and he fell off the wall.
It took him a long time to regain consciousness. As Tie Zhu struggled to get up, he saw that his clothes were torn and his body was scratched by tree branches. Pain poured from his swollen right arm. Drops of sweat poured down his face, sticking to every part of his body. Wang Lin touched his arm, but he couldn’t tell if it was broken. This injury must have been sustained when he hit the wall.
