Chapter 83 – Stealing the Foundation (3)
Two days later, Wang Lin was near a stream, filling a gourd with water while carefully examining his surroundings. His expression suddenly changed as he cursed, “This will never end!”
He swung his flying sword, pushing aside the gourd as he jumped across the river, and ran deeper into the forest.
A moment later, Teng Li cautiously chased after Wang Lin, not daring to use any spiritual power. He looked extremely miserable. His clothes were torn and his armor had lost its luster. His right arm was limp as he chased after Wang Lin.
His hair was disheveled, his face pale, and his eyes filled with anger. His hatred for Wang Lin had reached unimaginable levels. He had always been treated like a genius since he was a child, and never before had he been placed in such a desperate situation.
All of this was caused by Wang Lin.
The vines nearly killed him two days ago. He never imagined such a small vine could be so deadly. When the vines’ fluids came into contact with his armor, they began to dissolve the steel plates.
If that were all, it would be fine. He would have killed it with his flying sword. However, this vine would never die. Every time he cut it, it would split again.
Even the lightning balls created by the flying swords couldn’t stop the vines.
Then, Wang Lin’s strange flying sword suddenly attacked, and his right arm was injured by the flying sword.
Finally, Teng Li had to take out the life-saving treasure his grandfather had given him. The treasure was extremely powerful, but it only had one use. He hadn’t used it once since receiving it, but he knew that if he didn’t use it now, he wouldn’t be able to save his own life.
Eventually, under the power of the treasure, most of the vines were destroyed and the rest retreated back underground. Teng Li used this opportunity to finally escape.
Thinking about it now, his forehead was already covered in cold sweat. As for Wang Lin, he now hated him to the bone.
Especially since Wang Lin never attacked him directly and always attacked him stealthily. With Wang Lin’s strange flying sword, Teng Li had to constantly keep it hovering around him.
He examined the river carefully. After a moment’s hesitation, he drank some water from the river because he was very thirsty after chasing for 5 or 6 days.
The water tasted refreshing and sweet. Teng Li felt refreshed and was about to take another drink when his heart suddenly pounded. A small green sword silently appeared before him and stabbed into his head.
Teng Li immediately retreated without hesitation, summoning his own flying sword to protect him. The two flying swords collided, but the green sword was clearly at a disadvantage. After a moment, the green sword suffered a few more scratches before suddenly flashing and disappearing.
Teng Li stared at the hair that was cut by the small green sword as he shouted at the top of his voice, “Damn it! I swear that when I catch you, I will let you experience all the torture in the world and then refine your soul!”
Wang Lin was running through the forest when his face suddenly turned red and he swallowed a mouthful of blood. A green sword appeared beside him. He felt a pain in his heart as he saw the new scratch. A cold light flashed across his eyes as he continued running.
Until late at night, 5 days later, Wang Lin and Teng Li were still running in the middle of the forest. They had entered the deepest part of the forest and that night, Wang Lin suddenly stopped.
Situ Nan immediately said, “Kid, you noticed it too? There are very strong spiritual fluctuations northwest of here. Go and check it out.” In these past few days, he had been vigilantly using all his knowledge to help Wang Lin avoid one danger after another.
Without a word, Wang Lin changed direction to the northwest. Soon, he arrived at the location of the spiritual fluctuations.
The sight before him caused his pupils to constrict.
Under the moonlight, a giant tree lay completely uprooted, lying on the ground. The area was clear of anything except the corpses lying on the ground.
Above his head floated a green bead as spiritual energy gathered from all directions, forming many small vortexes.
Situ Nan was stunned and said, in a surprised tone, “Green core? Didn’t expect there to be a green core from a rank 4 country here.”
Wang Lin asked, “What is the green core?”
“This is a special cultivation technique of the demon sects of rank 4 countries, the Green Core, or False Core. Unlike normal cores, you can have as many green cores as you want. I remember there was a madman from a rank 4 country who had tens of thousands of green cores. Even Spirit Forming cultivators from rank 5 countries wouldn’t dare to mess with him. It must be said that besides its ability to increase your cultivation, what makes a green core deadly is when it explodes. It’s truly powerful when tens of thousands of green cores explode at once.”
Wang Lin’s eyes lit up and he suddenly asked, “How many green cores does this person before us have? Can you tell?”
“Him? Only one is good enough for him, and this person isn’t a living person either. He’s clearly an intelligent zombie. He’s probably a demonic cultivator from a rank 4 country who used a technique before his death to transform into a zombie.”
The zombie had clearly seen Wang Lin. He didn’t move, but raised his finger and flicked it. A green light shot straight at Wang Lin’s forehead.
Wang Lin immediately retreated and avoided the green light.
The green light didn’t chase, but circled and stopped. It projected a blurry shadow that emitted an indistinct sound.
“Leave… this place… you… die.” With that, the shadow’s body moved and disappeared. Shortly after, the enormous spiritual energy fluctuations vanished without a trace as if they had been completely sealed off.
Wang Lin slowly retreated without blinking. After a moment, a cold light flashed across his eyes, and he no longer fled, but spread out his divine sense, waiting for Teng Li to catch him.
Teng Li’s flying sword circled around his body, sweeping away anything that stood in its way. Suddenly, he realized something and smiled. He pointed his finger forward, and his flying sword shot out.
Wang Lin’s shadow was already visible. Teng Li became excited as he examined his surroundings. Wang Lin’s actions alerted him. He sneered, “Why aren’t you running?”
Wang Lin pointed with his right finger and the green flying sword appeared. He waved his hand and the green sword shot out. Then, he took out a piece of jade, then spat out a mouthful of spiritual energy onto the jade.
Suddenly, 4 golden characters appeared from the jade.
Teng Li grinned. He bit his finger and dripped a drop of his blood onto his flying sword. Suddenly, the flying sword vibrated as it released a demonic light and transformed into a huge sword. Countless balls of lightning also appeared, but their numbers were clearly much fewer than before.
As the greatsword appeared, it released a cold aura as Teng Li swung it down.
Wang Lin’s small sword teleported and arrived behind Teng Li. Just before the sword could strike, Teng Li touched his storage bag and a bell suddenly appeared and attached itself to his body.
The small green sword hit the bell and ripples appeared on it.
As the greatsword swung down, Wang Lin pointed his finger, and four golden symbols shot toward him. Wang Lin retreated until he reached the spot where he saw the zombie.
The four symbols exploded upon colliding with the flying sword, sending it flying back upward. However, there were too few golden symbols, so after pausing in midair for a moment, the greatsword continued to swing downward.
A cracking sound rang out from the ground as it clearly couldn’t withstand the pressure. All the giant trees around him collapsed. Just as the sword fell, Wang Lin’s body was enveloped in blue light and he teleported away.
Just as the sword was about to hit his body, he teleported 100 meters away with blood dripping from his forehead.
The huge sword hit the ground hard. Soon, a terrifying scream was heard and a ghostly figure that smelled like a rotten corpse rushed towards Teng Li.
Teng Li’s expression suddenly changed. He had already suspected something, but he hadn’t expected such a creature to live here. He pointed his finger forward as a ball of lightning struck the zombie.
The lightning balls were incredibly powerful, and lightning is also the weakness of all undead. The balls exploded immediately upon contact with the zombie. The zombie screamed as parts of its body were blown away, revealing black bones.
Teng Li sneered as he waved his left hand. Suddenly, more than ten lightning balls appeared around the flying sword. The lightning balls shot towards the zombie, with the greatsword following closely behind.
Wang Lin secretly thought, “Not Good!” He didn’t expect the zombie to be this weak and about to run away.
The zombie also realized something was wrong and, in a life-and-death situation, screamed and vomited a green core. The moment the green core appeared, it exploded.
The energy wave spread outwards forming a circle around the zombie. All the plants around it turned to dust and Teng Li, who was too close, bit the tip of his tongue and spat blood onto the bell attached to his body.
In an instant, the bell transformed from semi-transparent to a more solid form. There were many ancient patterns on the bell.
As the wave hit Teng Li, the bell shook violently. It only lasted a few seconds before shattering.
Taking advantage of the time the bell gave him, Teng Li threw out treasures one after another. As the bell shattered, layers of defenses appeared in front of him one by one.
