Matteo laughed and sneered, “Who told you that I sullied her?”
What?
Justin’s body trembled; he was dumbfounded. He stared at Matteo blankly. A few seconds later, he asked, “Master, you didn’t touch her at the inn?”
Justin was so surprised and happy that he even stuttered! — Matteo said, “I didn’t touch her.”
Matteo continued to sip his tea leisurely; he was quite proud of his indifferent expression.
Justin was dumbfounded. “Then, Master, why did you ask me to give her to you — “
Matteo burst into laughter as he looked at Justin. He said, “A group of bandits bullied you at the inn. You were willing to kneel and crawl under their crotches. How many people could have done it? I admired you very much, so I wanted to test you. To be a strong man, you must not have any worries and be willing to set aside everything you love. You managed to do it that time, but now… Since you have given up on Lily, you should stop thinking about her.”
Justin’s heart was shaken. He felt his brain buzzed, and at the same time, he was inexplicably happy.
Then he felt as if something was wrong and so, he asked, “Master, I was outside the door after I gave her to you. I heard everything.”
“Report!”
Before Justin could say anymore, an Incandescent Sect disciple hurried toward them. “Deputy Sect Master, a woman just broke into the Incandescent Sect’s branch. We’ve caught her.”
They caught a woman?
Matteo frowned as he told Justin, “Let’s go and see what’s going on.”
The relationship between the Incandescent Sect and the other sects had been quite tense. If she was a spy from the other sects, it was necessary to interrogate her.
Matteo got up and walked out of the secret chamber; Justin quickly followed suit.
When they arrived in the front hall, Justin saw the woman who broke into the branch’s altar; her hands were tied, and she looked unkempt.
